Egg Rating Scale
How are teacher ratings calculated on MFT?
We have three rating criterion for students to rate their teachers on: Clarity, Helpfulness and Easiness. While clarity means the clarity of the subject the teacher teaches and stands for 45% of the overall rating, helpfulness means how helpful a teacher is to the students outside of the class and inside and stands for another 45% of the overall rating.
The remaining 10% account for the easiness, which means how easy was it to score good marks in the subject. Though it does not entirely depend upon the teacher to make the subject easy, but sure enough the teacher could make it a little easier by being very clear and helpful, hence the 10% of the overall rating.
How do Egg icons appear on a teachers profile?
For now, the egg rating scale is very simple. A fresh farm egg appears when a teacher has an overall rating of more than 3.5 out of 5. A broken egg (symbolizing throwing of eggs at bad performers!) is displayed for the teachers having an overall rating less than 2 on 5. For teachers with a rating between 2 and 3.5 we have a cracked egg.
We plan to move this visual rating system to percentiles, where the top 5% teachers in rating will be displayed with some kind of an egg while others with other kinds of eggs!
